  US PGA seal

The Golf Academy of Dallas and Tenison Park Golf Course would like to welcome Scott Akers as the Director of Instruction.  His background includes working at two Top 100 Golf Courses and his teaching mentors include Top 100 Teacher Rick McCord and his former Head Golf Professional Walker Inman.
Scott attended Mississippi State University and graduated with a Professional Golf Management Degree.  He has been a PGA Member since 2000 and has been published six times in local and regional publications.  His teaching philosophy incorporates an approach which focuses on the fundamentals from set up throughout the entire swing.  The sequence of his instruction identifies if the arms and hands promote a negative swing flaw or if the body produces the swing flaw.  Swing position and swing sequence are a vital part of his methods.
His instruction offers a complete golf experience from full swing, putting, short game and playing lessons as well.  Lesson programs are available with him and he will be involved with clinics throughout the year.  Please say hello to Scott the next time you practice or warm up at The Range at Tenison Park.

Mike Kerr - Assistant PGA Professional

Mike was born in Inglewood, California and has been playing golf for over 20 years.
He has spent the last six years in Mission Hills, Kansas, where he was an Assistant Golf Professional at The Kansas City Country Club. Mike was elected and recieved his Class A PGA Membership in March 2008.

Mike's teaching credentials include working with golfers with all skill levels from a 36-handicap to PGA Tour players. He also has considerable experience teaching junior golfers.

Mike's teaching philosophy is correcting swing fundamental flaws such as grip, posture, alignment, ball position and take-away. Correcting these fundamentals first will make for consistent ball flight. This will instill confidence and lower a player’s score while building a fundamentally correct golf swing.

Mike also is a firm believer that you will develop bad swing habits with equipment that is not fitted to your own golf swing. All lesson packages will include a custom fitting to make sure you have the right equipment in your bag.

To schedule a lesson please contact Mike at (214) 670-1402 or email Mike at
